As I mentioned a while back I was interested in collaborating with my course mate Danny. He also is interested in "becoming animal" themes similar to me. He makes garments from fake fur and suede that look as if they are creatures of their own when not being worn but on the begin to turn the human animal. I took my newly acquired skin to him and we discussed what we wanted to do with it. I absolutely love the garments he makes ans was very interested in making something similar as his work has always been made using fake fur I think it will entirely change the process of the work by making with real skin. We happen to have similar torso proportions (waist size) so we will both be able to wear it if we want to. I'm really excited about making something wearable as I myself have less knowledge in this area, and Danny does. So together we are going to try and make a create garment that one of us can perform in.
The skin is very stiff as it has cured, so we wanted to use this so our advantage, Danny normally has to adds boning into each garment to makes to add stiffness so that it has a form of it's own. But we won't have to do this. We instead will soak the skin reform it around a bust and allow it to dry so that it takes the human form. And that's where we've left it for now. Drying in the studio.. wrapped around a bust.
